Unblocking A Sewer Drain

Recently on a late Monday afternoon we got a call from a new customer in the locall area. The client told us that the sewer line serving the back granny flat was blocked and full to the brim. In this case the toilet was backed up and sinks were not draining.

As this kind of job is classed as an emergency our plumber, James, was at the door within one hour.

We needed to take a look at the drains to see what was happening and in this case the best plan of attack was to the put a camera down the drain via an inspection opening in the courtyard as shown in the above image.

We recommended to the customer the use of the CCTV camera in order to identify any underlying issues and confirm that we had in fact fully cleared the sewer line after the work was completed. Our customer was keen to find out what had been causing a blockage and agreed with the plan of attack.

We removed the screw down lid and once we gained direct access to the 100 mm sewer line we say that it was partially blocked by tree roots.

In this case we found tree root growth in two locations within the sewer line. After thoroughly cleaning the sewer line with our jetter, we then used the CCTV camera to confirm 100% that the sewer line is fully clear and free from and tree roots.

This is just one example of another happy customer and what you can expect from J Dalton Plumbing.
